BEACH “LOS FRAILES”

With its long stretch of sand surrounded by high cliffs, is one of the most famous and picturesque coastlines of the Ecuadorian coast, is part of Machalilla National Park since 1979, you can visit the beach of the Friars throughout the year and is accessed by road from the town of Puerto Lopez, it is advisable to wear light clothing for its predominantly warm tropical climate, this beach being within a protected area, no services catering and accommodation but camping is possible within it.

For many, the beach of the Friars in Ecuador is the best country for its size, being isolated, separated from the road and because usually almost empty. Moreover, not only this beach is interesting in the area, there are other two which can be reached from the Friars and a viewpoint of the coast and the National Park Machalilla.

This beach belongs precisely to Machalilla National Park, which is also the island of La Plata. As it is near Montañita, very tourist destination, you may move from there you feel like a few days to Puerto Lopez and relax on the beach of the Friars in a much quieter atmosphere.
